It's Over :(

So Joshua won, I'm fine with it because I really liked everyone left. I didn't have a preference who won at all. I liked how each judge chose their favorite routines. My favorite was the "No Air."

I'm curious to know which were your favorites?

Favorites from the last three weeks

I've been watching faithfully every week, I'm just having a hard time finding the time to blog about it. Summer has been busy!

Three weeks ago:
Kherington and Twitch's contemporary routine was my favorite.

Two weeks ago:
Katee and Joshua's Bollywood routine was my favorite.

This week:
Gev had my favorite solo.

Katee and Will had my favorite pairs - loved that they used Archie's version of Imagine.

Favorites from the last two weeks

So I wasn't able to blog about my favorite dance from last week so here it is.

Although I do agree with Mia that Kerrington's permagrin bugs, it really was a beautiful dance.

So onto this week.

The couple whose interaction I enjoy most are Courtney and Gev. I think they are funny.

I'm still laughing at Courtney's comment, "Really? The choreography is for Gev to grab my butt?"

The best dance of the night though went to our little Utah girl Chelsea.
So far she hasn't had a disappointing performance.

I think they said they change partners next week, so that should be interesting.

Top 20

So LV week is over and the top 20 were revealed. But let's talk about a few things from Vegas week first. Remember the popper, Rob Muraine? Right away he decided he couldn't take learning choreography and quit. Here is the video.

I feel both the judges and Robert were right on this one. While Robert is clearly talented, this competition wasn't right for him. I have a feeling he will be just fine though, he has gotten the exposure he wanted. There are a gagillion clips of him on you tube now.

For a complete recap of Vegas week go here.

Now for who did make it. Four from Utah!

First, Gev Manoukian (21) is a Hip Hop/Break dancer originally from Kazakhstan and now living in Centerville, UT. Manoukian was a featured dancer in “High School Musical 2.”

Matt Dorame (22) is a Contemporary dancer from Glendale, AZ. He studied for two years at Odyssey Dance Theatre in Salt Lake City.

Thayne Jasperson (27) is a Contemporary dancer who grew up in Springville, UT. Jasperson was a featured dancer in “High School Musical,” and “High School Musical 2.” He danced five years with Odyssey Dance Theatre in Salt Lake City, but has only been dancing six years.

And Yes, Liza your girl made it onto the show. Chelsie Hightower (18) is a Latin dancer born in Las Vegas, NV, and raised in Orem, UT. Hightower has worked with many world-renowned choreographers. She was a U.S. Worlds finalist in 2005 and competed on Team USA.

For more pics and bios of all of the other top 20 dancers go here.

Now onto the performances. My favorite routine did not include any of the Utah dancers.

It was performed by Katee Shean and Joshua Allen - Hip Hop - Choreographers: Napoleon and Tabitha - Song: “No Air” by Jordin Sparks /w Chris Brown

I'm kind of surprised I'm liking hip hop as much as I am.

Now, my runners up both included Utah dancers.

First, Chelsie Hightower and Mark Kanemura - Contemporary - Choreographer: Mia Michaels - Song: “Beautiful” by Me’Shell Ndegeocello

I'm glad Chelsie has been paired with Mark. I like him, he is unique.

Second, Chelsea Traille and Thayne Jasperson - Cha Cha - Choreographers: Tony Meredith and Melanie - Song: “Oye Como Va” by Celia Cruz

That was hot! While the judges seem to give all the credit to Chelsea for the hotness, I don't completely agree. Don't get me wrong, she's hot but I think Thayne did an excellent job of show casing her and that added to it.

If you want to see videos of any of the other performances go here.

SYTYCD Milwaukee Auditions

Here are the stand outs for me.

Here are some salsa dancers with some amazing tricks I've never seen before. Janette Manara 24 and Romulo Villaverde 19 - Hilaleah, FL

This guy does an old fashioned routine that I wasn't sure of at first, but then I was totally drawn in. Evan Kasprzak 20 - West Bloomfield MI

LOVED this one. This was my favorite of the night. Kourtni Lind 18 - Sherman Oaks CA

This girl auditioned two weeks ago in LA but didn't make it. She took the judges criticism and completely changed it around. It's amazing the improvements she made in just two weeks. Rebecca Hart 19 - Fresno CA

This story is really sad. I feel so bad for her. She worked so hard for an entire year and then this happened. Yesenia Gomez 24 - Byron Center MI

SYTYCD Charleston and DC Auditions

So I know I'm a week behind, but I'm sure you will recall my viewing problems. Well I finally finished going through all of the videos I could find. This was my favorite of the Charleston auditions - Jeremiah Hughes - 19 - Toronto CA -

I know he's kind of kooky but the way he talks actually reminds me of one of my brother-in-laws, who I love dearly. I love that awesome jump he did in the very beginning.

My favorite from DC is Brandon Bryant - 18 - Miami FL

AWESOME! This guy is so muscular, he looks like he has his been chiseled out of stone.

Let me know if I missed something good.

Because of my viewing problems last week, you bet I checked this week. At 7:15, I noticed I only had 8 minutes recorded. someone had stopped it AGAIN! ARGGHHH! Luckily I caught it before the show was entirely over. So I'll miss 6 minutes but hopefully there was a commercial during that time.

TV and DVR on the fritz!

So for some reason my TV and DVR were giving me problems yesterday. I only got the last 1/2 hour of SYTYCD and none of LCS. I'll see if they are running again some time this week.

SYTYCD SLC Auditions

So I was much more into this episode, but I think it was purely because the auditions were in Salt Lake.

Here are the ones that impressed me. First, Chelsea Hightower. All the way from PG.

and Kellie Baker whose Mom choreographed HSM.

But my favorite audition was Michael Moore. He's what I call the "Brooke White" of SYTYCD only he didn't make it.

Then it was on to Dallas. I did like one girl from there too (I'm not totally biased). Arielle Coker. I love too how excited her friend was that she made it, even though he didn't. Seems like a really nice guy.

So You Think You Can Dance

I've never watched this show before, but I'm going to give it a try this season since I got pulled into the marathon of last season.
I recorded it last night, but I have to admit, I wasn't as intrigued by the auditions. So far this is the only thing that caught my attention.

I also recorded Last Comic Standing, but haven't watched it yet.

Cool Dance

So, during one of my many nursing sessions today, I was searching for something to watch on TV. Well, not much was on but I flipped to "So You Think You Can Dance" on MTV. I've never watched the show before because I thought, dancing is dancing right? Well, then I saw this

I thought it was the coolest thing ever, so needless to say, I got sucked into the marathon. Go figure.
